Sify recently tied up with National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) and launched a certified course in Internet surfing to educate people on how to use the Internet for information and communications.

The ten-hour course offered at just Rs 125/- is aimed at people who don’t have access to personal computers at home. The course is available at the Sify ePort chain of cyber cafés across the country. Sify has developed the content.

On completion of the course the participants will get a certificate jointly issued by Sify and NIXI. The certificates are signed by the Secretary, Department of Information Technology (DIT).

Based on the success of this project, both Sify and NIXI plan to introduce advanced Internet and other courses in the future. While the course is now available in English there are plans to introduce it in other Indian languages as well.
